Double-Click Ad Planner by Google is a free media planning tool that helps identify websites to be used for specific target markets. It is used to help make better-informed advertising decisions.

OPTION #1      [THE TOP 1000 WEBSITES]
The Ad Planner 1000 list [www.google.com/adplanner/static/top1000] is a list of the top 1,000 sites on the web. It is published every month. This list details the number of unique visitors, page views and reach for each site for the top 1,000 sites.

It’s a great way to quickly reference the most popular sites on the web. Each column can be sorted by clicking on the column header name.

OPTION #2      [THE MOST POPULAR WEBSITES BY CATEGORY]

The Ad Planner can categorize the Top 1000 websites ranked by Google [www.google.com/adplanner].

Below are steps need to be taken [note: these steps will change as the website changes]

  • Create a Google Account www.google.com/adplanner
  • Sign-in

Reach
The estimated percent of total internet users (over a specific month) within the defined criteria selected. This is really used for advertisers that select specific a criteria.  For example, a 32% score means 32% of internet users in the country selected met the chosen criteria.

[PV] Page views
The estimated number of times website pages have been accessed by users across the internet (over a specific month). With the Page View column [metric], you can get an idea of how popular a website is.

The SEOmoz Top Sites: The 500 Most Important Domains on the Internet http://www.seomoz.org/top500 is a reliable and up-to-date list. It is a terrific resource.

SEOmoz is the most popular provider of SEO [search engine optimization] software.

Unfortunately, no descriptions are put next to the domains.

 In future articles, we will pull out what we feel are useful practical websites as a lot of them are technical and not for mainstream interests.

In my research, I discovered that there is so much to share with you that I will break down this information into various posts. This is the first post. PURPOSE

  • To improve your skills in finding information on the Internet.
  • To make you internet experience more fulfilling.
  • To broaden your skills by bringing more options [search engines] to you.

POINTS

  • Search engines are the basic tools to help find information on the Internet.
  • Different search engines give different results; some deliver different formats [audio, video, graphics etc..]; some are specialize in certain areas [general, medicine, people etc..]
  • There are an enormous number of search engines. Seniors-Online researched the best search engine listings to encourage you to go beyond your normal search engine choices.
  • The Top 4 Search Engines have over 96% of all the traffic [Google, Yahoo, Bink and Ask].
